The client had a rusted out external chimney stack and also needed a conical reducer on top of his chimney to satisfy the NYC Department of Buildings required Distance D formula. As requested we proposed to replace the existing rotted chimney stack. We obtained the plans and permit for the chimney replacement. We permitted and erected approximately 60’ of scaffold to access the existing external stack. We dismantled and carted away the old stack. We furnished and installed a new 60’ vertical run using 16” diameter double wall insulated stainless steel stack pipe. We secured the new stack into the building façade using wall mount assembly brackets. We connected the new stack to the existing breeching through the masonry base and installed a new clean out access at the base. We installed the new conical reducer at the top of the chimney.
Once the new stack was installed we performed the NYC DOB required pressurized smoke testing and were able to issue the chimney affidavit for the NYC Dept. of Buildings and Con-Ed
