Video Scan and Chimney Lining of Boiler Chimney

For this client we performed a video scan to check for any cracks, gaps or offsets. The vide scan showed several missing pieces of clay tile lining inside the chimney. The video also showed cracks throughout the chimney. condition was not satisfactory to convert from oil to gas.

We made a recommendation to reline the chimney.

For the chimney lining we obtained plans and permits. We installed 85’ of 18” diameter 304 ASTM listed butt seam welded 10gage stainless steel pipe. We installed a steel base plate for the chimney lining.

At the base of the chimney we supplied and installed a gas tight clean out as required by the New York City Department of Buildings.

We made the connection from the existing breeching into the newly installed lining at the base of the chimney wall using a stainless tee fitting.

At the top of the chimney we fabricated and installed a custom fabricated chase with cutout and 6” wrap to secure lining in place. The pipe terminated 3’ above the top of the chimney. Once the lining was complete we performed a pressurized smoke test witnessed by the engineer and provided the building a chimney affidavit for NYC DOB and Con-Edison
